
Somatic Practices to Reduce Stress and Overwhelm
When life feels overwhelming, it's easy to get stuck in your head. But your body offers a way out. Somatic practices help shift you from stress to balance by working with sensation, movement, and breath.
Here's one to try right now: Box Breathing. Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4, then repeat.
Why it works: this even rhythm gives your nervous system a clear, predictable pattern to follow, which signals safety. When your breath slows and steadies, your body reads that as "the danger has passed," and starts to settle in response.
